Sept. 21 Quebec City

Today we biked to Quebec City, what a delight! It was very much like Paris France. You can see the hotel at the upper level of the city. The town overlooks the St. Lawrence River and small cruise ships come into the harbor along with cargo ships.

The narrow shop lined streets are so beautiful with their flower boxes and greenery

One of many fountains in the city. This one just outside the city wall. Those frogs really can shoot water.

Quebec city is the only city in America that is still surrounded by the walls that were used to protect it.  The restaurant that we ate lunch was just a block inside the city walls.

Cafe De Paris is were we ate. We had mussels in a cream sauce, very yummy.. We even ate cake. It was a very slow paced meal, with soup and french bread followed by the main course with white wine and then dessert and coffee. I think it took about 2 hours and Becky said I could count this our anniversary meal, just a month early.

This is a picture from the inside of the restaurant.

Another view of our table by the window, which they keep completely opened.

Horse drawn carriages went by  our window seat in the restaurant..

After lunch we hiked to the Citadel at the very top of the hill. You can see the top of the hotel in the background with what looks like a brand new copper roof.

Our next stop after riding our bikes back to the van was to Montmorency Falls. The falls are one and half times the height of Niagaria Falls. Not the amount of water, but still very impressive.

We have enjoyed Quebec City so much that we have decided to stay an extra day.
